Conte's Suspension Service Center

Who is suspension service for?

Short answer: anyone who owns a bike with suspension. Your bike's suspension is one of the most important components of the bike. It helps to absorb bumps and dips, making for a smoother, more comfortable, and efficient ride. This helps to improve traction and control, which is especially important when riding over rough terrain. Not only will a properly-maintained suspension feel better, it will make you a better rider by making your bike more predictable and inspiring confidence.

Suspension Service Menu

Rear Shock Air Sleeve Service

$100

An important piece of preventative maintenance for the part that keeps you in control. Keep your shock operating smoothly and protect the complex internals by having the air sleeve removed and cleaned. We'll install new seals and fresh suspension fluid.

Fork Lower Leg Service

$150

If your fork is functioning well enough, but you want to stay on top of maintenance and suspect it could squish a little smoother. It's like changing the oil in your car. We'll replace the fluid that's responsible for smooth operation and the seals that keep the dirt out.

Rear Shock Full Service

$250

Blue and red knobs not working? Shock not holding air? Is there a strange gurgling sound when you compress your rear suspension? Time for a FULL service. We'll disassemble and inspect all the tiny parts, replace seals, service the damper and the air sleeve.

Fork Full Service

Does your dropper post have trouble returning to full extension?

Does it drop when you don't want it to?

Can you hear the dirt and grit inside as it moves up and down?

Do I Need to Service My Suspension?

The seals in your bike's suspension will wear over time and the oil inside becomes contaminated. This process is accelerated with increased use, adverse riding conditions and lack of regular cleaning. This leads to a number of problems, including:

  • Reduced performance
  • Increased harshness
  • Increased wear on other components
  • Increased risk of injury

For these reasons, it is important to get your mountain bike suspension serviced regularly, ensuring that it is performing at its best and that you are getting the most out of your bike.

Here are some of the main reasons why you should have your mountain bike suspension serviced:

  • To improve performance: A well-maintained suspension product will provide a smoother, more comfortable ride, as well as improved traction and control.
  • To extend the life of the suspension products: Regular servicing can help to prevent wear and tear on the suspension components, reducing the chance that you'll have to replace the entire fork or shock during the life of your bike.
  • To avoid injury: A poorly maintained suspension can lead to a number of problems, including increased harshness, which can increase the risk of injury.

At a minimum, the manufacturer's specified service intervals should be followed. However, the frequency with which you have your suspension serviced also depends on how often you ride, the conditions you ride in and the type of riding you do. As a general rule, it is recommended to have basic suspension service performed after 50 hours of riding or once yearly, whichever comes sooner. You should have your suspension fully serviced every 125-200 hours of riding.
