20-Inch (5-8 yr. old)
Every Jamis youth bike uses size-specific items like grips, saddles and cranks that enhance comfort and control by providing the best possible bike fit. We focus on designing frames with low stand-overs to take much of the awkwardness out of getting on board and dismounting after. We trim as much weight as we can with lightweight aluminum frames on many of the youth models and use aluminum parts where possible (the limiting factor here is working within a youth bike appropriate price point) to work towards that make-it-as-light-as-possible goal.
Riding a bike is all about freedom, so no kid should ever have to feel inhibited by where they can and can't ride their bike. With the Riprock 20 Coaster, however, your little one will be able to rip and ride on any terrain that they come across—especially with the easy-to-use coaster brake. You remember how it works from when you were a kid, right? Instead of hand brakes, they use the pedals to slow down. Nice and easy. Even better, this Riprock has wide, 2.8-inch tires that deliver traction, control, and confidence in spades, And with sturdy 20-inch wheels and a low standover that all but guarantees a perfect fit, you can rest assured that the Riprock 20 is the perfect recipe for fun that your family has been looking for. - The premium A1 aluminum frame is lightweight and built to withstand the tough use by kids, while the geometry features an ultra-low standover that makes it easy for your little ones to fit on and grow with the bike. - Steel coaster brake is a reliable, easy to use brake perfect for safe stops and awesome skids. - 20x2.3" Rhythm Lite tires deliver tons of traction, comfort, stability, and fun over all types of terrain.
For little cruisers looking to pedal their way forward…and coaster brakes to make them stop! Sure, we had grunge in the 90's, but it was never this much fun. Channel your little rocker's energy into two wheels and get them gunning for a different kind of stage from an early age with a single-speed bike built just for riders who are growing up through the ranks. The LegitFit system gives them better positioning, easier pedaling, and a faster start to your next ride.
Children get more adventurous as they get older - it's part of the natural process of growing up. And where their riding is concerned, that means they'll need a bike that's up to the task. The Acid 200 is every inch a junior version of its adult counterpart, from the carefully constructed frame to the 7-speed transmission and powerful, easily controllable brakes. Its heat-treated 6061 aluminium chassis has the same quality and durability as our full-size mountain bikes, but it's also as light as our engineers can reasonably make it whilst maintaining its strength. Because we know that accidents can happen when kids are pushing their limits, we've made the derailleur hanger easily replaceable so that a crash doesn't write off the frame. Details like the brake levers and alloy cranks are specially designed for small bodies, so they fit perfectly and work easily. There's even a power modulator on the front brake, so over-enthusiastic stopping is less likely to result in tears. And when the climb starts to get too steep, the large 34-tooth bailout gear will lend a helping hand for tired legs. Add it all up, and it's the ideal introduction to off-road fun with mum and dad.
